The Eufy Mach V1 Ultra StickVac Can Vacuum, Mop, and Steam Hard Floors

Make no mistake: The Eufy Mach V1 Ultra StickVac isn’t just any cordless stick vacuum. This one vacuums, mops, and steams hard floors.

Though vacuum/mop combos are becoming increasingly popular, a steam function is rare. (The Bissel Crosswave HydroSteam has these three features—but uses a 25-foot cord.) The Mach V1 Ultra is cordless, functions as an all-in-one device, and can also be used to vacuum low and medium pile carpets.

Not to mention this tall, sleekly designed steam mop and vacuum cleaner is also a looker. Granted, it still looks like a vacuum cleaner, but it’s one of the best-looking models you’ll find. And when it finishes vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning hard floors, it cleans itself. But you’ll pay for these features: $700 at the time of publication.

The Mach V1 Ultra ships with more than just the vacuum. It also includes the following:

One of my favorite features on the Eufy MACH V1 Ultra StickVac (besides the fact that it vacuums, mops, steams, self-cleans, and looks good) is the LCD screen guide. It has an animated tutorial with voice prompts that walked me through all of the functions. I didn’t have to keep stopping to look at my phone or tablet for the “next steps,” which made it a lot easier to follow along. The animation can also be turned off if you don’t want to view it.

The LCD screen guide also displays the animation of the current mode that I’m in, as well as the battery level and charging status. This is also where I can view the cleanliness status of whatever surface I’m working on—for example, a red light bar when the floor is dirty, a blue light bar when the floor is clean.

The vacuum cleaner has three modes: smart mode, steam mode, and suction mode. The smart mode is the default mode, designed for routine mopping of hard floors. Steam mode is recommended for sanitizing and removing built-in debris and stains from hard floors. Suction mode is used for picking up dust and debris from carpets.

The colored lights on the screen are also pretty cool, but they’re meant to be functional. For example, a scrolling red light means that the vacuum cleaner is preparing steam, a pulsing red light means the steam release is ready, and the steady red light displays when releasing steam (holding the trigger). The blue light on the clean water tank means the oxygen generator in the water tank has started producing oxygen to assist in cleaning and remove bacteria and mites.

The Eufy Clean App can be downloaded on your smartphone, but I didn’t really find this functional since this isn’t a robot vacuum that I can operate remotely. If I need to be standing over the vacuum and my hand is already on the handle bar, it’s much easier to just select the functions on the screen. The app only provides maintenance advice and update alerts.

Setup was quick and easy. As with most wet-dry vacuums, I needed to charge the Mach V1 Ultra for four hours before I could start testing it.

The vacuum can clean wet and dry messes at the same time, so I didn’t have to vacuum first and then retrace my steps to mop and steam. The SteamWave technology is quite impressive, and when selecting steam mode, it provides a constant heated steam to remove messes and stains from hard floors. (Note: Though the steam function is safe for use on carpets and may remove a few stains, Eufy recommends using steam mode on hard floors and suction mode on carpets and rugs.) The steam reaches a temperature of 230 degrees Fahrenheit. According to Eufy, in addition to removing grime, it can also remove 99.9% of germs, such as E. coli, S. aureus, athlete’s foot fungus, and even black mold.

Since the Mach V1 Ultra can also vacuum carpets, I tested that feature as well. Admittedly, I tend to let the Roborock S7 Max Ultra Robot Vacuum clean my carpets, so they weren’t that dirty. However, the Mach V1 Ultra did a good job of vacuuming the carpets effectively.

I really wanted to see how the Mach V1 Ultra would perform on hard floors—and it did not disappoint. I poured water into the clean water tank (Eufy recommends tap water, not distilled). Then, I added the Mach cleaning solution to the Tesla Valve, or the tank that holds the floor cleaning solution. Those are two separate compartments, but they mix automatically and precisely—regardless of how much water or solution I’ve added. Then, I pressed the steam button, and waited 20 seconds for it to preheat.

Up to 30 days of the cleaning solution can be stored in the floor cleaner tank, so I didn’t have to keep refilling the container. The vacuum cleaner also has three separate tanks: In addition to the slim Tesla Valve tank that holds the floor cleaning solution, there’s also a clean water tank and a separate dirty water tank, so dirty water never contaminates the clean water.

Each time I pressed the trigger on the handle, the vacuum released steam, which helped to loosen and remove hardened stains. Since the vacuum cleaner is washing the roller brush as it’s cleaning, I didn’t have to worry about transferring messy debris from one side of the floor to the other. It’s a complex process: Water was released from the rolling roller brush, while the wipers were squeezing excess water from it, and the suction was sucking up any leftover debris. As a result of all of this, the floors were thoroughly saturated—but with only clean water. The floors also dried quickly. That’s because the vacuum uses JetBlade Technology, which uses fans to dry the floors almost instantly.

Another feature I liked: The Mach V1 Ultra doesn’t leak. This was quite important to me since I have 17 carpeted steps separating the landing/garage level from the living area. After picking up the vacuum to inspect it, I was confident that none of the dirty (or clean) water would leak out, so I carried it downstairs and used it there as well—and brought it back upstairs. There was not a drop of water on my stairs.

Since the Eufy Mach V1 Ultra features a self-cleaning system, there wasn’t much for me to do. I put the vacuum cleaner on the base and selected the self-cleaning mode. It washed, disinfected, and sterilized the rolling brush, tube, and vacuum body, and then dried itself, using hot air at 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Then, I removed the dirty water tank, pulled out the dry waste separator, and rinsed the components in the sink before reassembling the dirty water tank.

The Eufy Mach v1 Ultra makes it easy and convenient to vacuum, mop, and steam clean hard floors—and can even vacuum low and medium pile carpets. I found the steam cleaning function to be invaluable for the downstairs landing, as well as the kitchen and bathroom, since these are the places more likely to have stains and bacteria. It’s also a good vacuum cleaner, although that’s not what I would primarily use it for.

If you prefer a different type of versatility—such as a vacuum that can clean various areas of your home—the Samsung Bespoke Jet Vacuum Cleaner is an excellent choice with a dual brush roll for carpet and hard floors, a telescopic pipe/flex tool for cleaning blinds and under furniture, a pet tool for sofas, a combination tool, and a crevice tool. However, it does not mop and steam floors.

If you want mop and steam functions, there are two choices: the Bissell Crosswave HydroSteam or the Eufy Mach V1 Ultra—and only one of them is cordless. I think the latter is worth the money for the mop and steam functions alone, and especially if you don’t like to get your hands dirty when cleaning vacuum parts.
