Hoovering is one of those jobs that can cause rifts between you and whoever you live with. It feels like a thankless task, as you drag a hefty machine up and down the room, hoping that all the mess that's been made will be miraculously sucked up. For those people lucky enough to own a newer machine, it may be a little lighter, but the task is still arduous.

Cordless vacuums have skyrocketed in popularity in recent years thanks to their adaptability and quick speed, and although they prove hugely popular for those living in smaller homes or flats - sometimes they don't quite cut it, especially if you own pets or have a large family.

One woman was left "disgusted" by the mess that her cordless vacuum had left behind after switching back to a corded Shark model again, swearing that she'd never make the same mistake again by using a cordless. Someone did point out that "it makes sense that a battery-powered one isn't as powerful," but the dog owner couldn't get over the difference.

Lyndsey Garvey thought she was on top of her vacuuming routine, doing it every single day as she has a shedding dog, but after switching from a cordless vacuum to a corded one, she says she was 'disgusted' by the amount of dirt and hair that the previous cleaner had left behind, the Manchester Evening News reports.

She used her brand new Shark corded vacuum and after hoovering just one room, the container was almost full to the brim, leaving her mortified. She took to a cleaning Facebook page to share her news, writing: "I've two different cordless Shark vacuums in the past four years. Made the switch to a corded one today. This is after hoovering just one room, which was previously hoovered every single day! Disgusted, I'll never go back to cordless!"

People in the comments asked for the details of the new corded vacuum, and she shared it was from Amazon, where it's currently reduced from £329.99 to £239. "I've got the same exact hoover and the same gorgeous lab," one wrote. "The best hoover I've had so far, our labs are moulting so much atm."

Another said: "Cordless aren't as powerful." But a different busy mum reasoned: "The cordless for running around after the toddlers daily and the corded for a deeper clean once a week. It makes sense that a battery-powered one isn't as powerful?! I couldn't live without a cordless again as they are so convenient to whip around in a hurry."
