The Roborock Q8 Max Series robot vacuum cleaners have been revealed. Like the new Q5 Pro, the device features a DuoRoller brush for deeper cleaning; these are the first mid-range models from the brand to carry the advanced cleaning tool. As with the Q5 Pro, the Q8 Max has up to 5,500 Pa suction power alongside a mopping feature, with 30 water flow levels on offer.
The main difference between the Q8 Max and the Q5 Pro is Reactive Tech obstacle avoidance, which ensures the robot does not bump into furniture, people or pets as it cleans. Again, this is the first cheaper model to include the technology. The gadget uses LiDAR to navigate your home, moving in the same direction as floorboards to ensure dirt between the panels is picked up. You can customize the map of your home in the Roborock app, with the vacuum intelligently suggesting no-go zones.
Other features include a child lock and fast cleaning mode, reducing the job time by 30%. The Q8 Max+ comes with an auto-emptying docking station, which makes the vacuum self-sufficient for up to seven weeks. The robot has a 5,200 mAh battery providing a four-hour runtime, making the device suitable for areas around 300 m² (~3,230 ft²) in size. The Roborock Q8 Max and Q8 Max+ are expected to retail for US$599.99/€499 and US$819.99/€699, respectively, when they go on sale this October.
